Graduate Fashion Week 2010: The Church of Bones AW10/11

Selected to showcase the final collection at Graduate Fashion Week, the main inspiration came from a visit to the infamous Sedlec Ossuary, in Bohemia, Prague dubbed ‘The Church of Bones’.

Within these walls over 44,000 human bones have been transformed into art sculptures, including a giant chandelier formed out of every bone in the human body, transcending death and immortalizing the human form.

A fascination for conceptual and experimental artists, such as Damien Hirst and Marc Quinn, inspired the designer to push the boundaries of materials traditionally seen on the catwalk, fusing art with fashion.

Evoking a sense of spiritualism - this collection was born out of the idea of surviving death through art.
